1918 – 1928

After World War I, the Treaty of Versailles punished Germany, and the Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman Empires collapsed, creating new nations. The League of Nations aimed to maintain peace, but economic and political upheaval contributed to the rise of totalitarian regimes and ultimately World War II.
